THE WAR OVER GOD, GUNS, GAYS, MEXICANS, MUSLIMS, AND METROS

We are an obsessive-compulsive nation. Every topic takes forever to be resolved. Except the ones that are most damaging to us, such as the previously mentioned same-sex love in the sequel to Frozen.

Elections? I never saw anything like this last one; it’s a joke. The whole thing, just bread and circuses, much ado about very little. What do people really care about right now? Jobs? Homeland security? No. They just want stupid jokes, pornography, titillation, stupidity. Years ago Obama said that all conservatives care about is God and guns. Well, that self-same tyrant has destroyed the concept of God completely. Put an X through God, and all the conservatives have left is guns. Before he leaves us, he’ll try hard to take those, too, through one of his lawless executive orders. Just see the attack on our right to bear arms that Governor-Emperor Jerry Brown of Mexifornia enacted late one Friday night before running away on an extended European vacation. Like thieves in the night, these left-wing politicians take away our rights one at a time.

Yet now the paradigm has changed. Today, conservatives still care about God and guns, but they also care about gays, Mexicans, Muslims, and metrosexuals, men who are halfway to womanhood. Though not in the same way, of course. In the same way that liberals fear God and guns, conservatives fear the free pass being given everyone else.

Who can blame them? For decades, conservatives knew what they were and what they stood for. They were defined by their faith, by their family. They revered the Second Amendment, which protected those families from an oppressive government and criminals, and there was never a question that marriage was between a man and a woman. Everyone knew that. Borders were pretty ironclad. There was only one way in, and it was legal. Those were bedrock principles for what made America great. The same ideas do not operate anymore. Nobody then would have recognized conservatives of today.

See, along came the Tea Party. The Tea Party elected some people to Congress. Those representatives either did nothing or were crushed by the Left. If a man standing six foot five with a beard who looks like Paul Bunyan in a lumberjack outfit says, “Hey, I feel like a woman inside, so I’m going to the women’s room,” well, that’s his right in San Francisco, and of course now in the rest of the United States, too. Of course, if you say anything about this, you’re a bigot. In New York City, under the communist mayor, if you use the wrong honorific to address someone—if you say “Ms.” and that day they feel like a “Mr.”—you are acting outside the law. This is the insanity right now. This is what’s happened. The world is upside down. But it didn’t start with Barack Obama. It started with George W. Bush.

Dubya said he was a compassionate conservative, which was my phrase, as you well know. It wasn’t good enough that there was a thing called conservatism, but he became a compassionate one.
